MCIW Release Status Paths
Mississippi Correctional Institute for Women is an MDOC state institution, not the Rankin County jail. It is separately designated on the CMCF grounds. A woman who leaves the county detention center and appears at MCIW has entered state custody. The county roster’s missing row is therefore a transfer clue, not proof of return to the community.
A later MCIW departure can be reassignment, parole, earned-release supervision, or maximum discharge. Parole and ERS end ordinary institutional confinement while state jurisdiction continues. A transfer keeps custody in force. Maximum discharge is the stronger sentence-end event and should be supported by an agency record or certificate.
Search MCIW Release Records
Begin with the MDOC inmate search. An MDOC number is the best key. With only a name, compare date of birth, physical identifiers, county of conviction, sentence facts, and photograph. Read location before the date. MCIW or another prison unit points to confinement. A Community Corrections entry can point to release from a cell under supervision.
Follow a focused sequence:
- Confirm identity by MDOC number or matched fields.
- Save the location, unit, change date, sentence, and tentative date.
- Determine whether the new site is a prison, program, or supervision office.
- Request custody history, computation, release type, and discharge certificate.
- For parole, obtain the Board decision and supervision assignment.
The Rankin County release-record path helps when MCIW admission followed a county-jail transfer.
Identify an MCIW Record
MCIW is separately designated on the CMCF grounds, so the exact institution and unit matter. First match the name, MDOC ID, date of birth, physical descriptors, and photograph. Then compare the county of conviction, offense, sentence date, sentence count, and total term. Those fields reduce the risk of attaching an MCIW status to the wrong woman or treating a state photo as a Rankin County booking image.
| MCIW detail | Question it answers |
|---|---|
| Name, MDOC ID, birth date | Is this the correct state offender record? |
| Location and unit | Does the record still name MCIW or another placement? |
| Location-change date | When did MDOC report the new assignment? |
| Sentence and county | Which judgment controls the state term? |
| Tentative Release Date | What date does MDOC currently anticipate? |
A change from MCIW to another prison is a transfer. A community assignment can reflect parole or ERS with jurisdiction continuing. The custody history and formal release document determine which event occurred.
MCIW Records and Contact
The research names MCIW separately on the CMCF grounds but does not provide a separate public street address or telephone. None should be invented. Documentary requests belong through MDOC’s written public-record channel. Identify MCIW, the MDOC number, and date range. Ask for custody and location history, the time-computation sheet, actual release type and date, parole or ERS dates, and a discharge certificate.

Use MDOC General Public records information and its linked GovQA portal. Parole Board decisions and institution records have different custodians.
MCIW Dates Are Tentative
On an MCIW record, Tentative Release Date is MDOC’s anticipated date after present credits and eligibility inputs. A woman’s sentence start, term length, concurrent or consecutive structure, qualifying jail credit, offense, sentencing date, earned time, forfeitures, parole action, ERS review, and later orders can all affect it. The date does not say that she departed MCIW.
Section 47-5-138 includes 4.5 days of earned time per 30 days served for qualifying post-1995 sentences and caps that allowance at 15 percent, with exclusions. An eligible MCIW exit under that rule may begin ERS rather than end MDOC control. Obtain her time-computation sheet instead of treating the 85-percent shorthand as a promised day.
- Tentative date
- MCIW planning field that can change.
- ERS
- Community status under MDOC jurisdiction.
- Parole
- Conditional release decided by the Board.
- Discharge
- Formal sentence-end status supported by MDOC records.
MCIW Release Planning
For a woman leaving MCIW, the assigned case manager verifies travel plans during MDOC processing. The Family and Friends FAQ gives a 30-to-45-day processing statement and requires a discharge certificate before release. A requested bus ticket may cover travel to a destination or nearest city, but not an out-of-state trip under that guidance.
MCIW planning can still change after an expected parole or ERS date appears. The Parole Board decides parole, and MDOC Records evaluates ERS using institution facts. A detainer, court order, lost credit, or incomplete plan can alter the destination or timing. Use her final papers and case-manager direction for the actual departure.
Note: An MCIW tentative date supports planning, while the release papers document the event that occurred.
MCIW Within Rankin Custody
Rankin County contains the county jail, CMCF, MCIW, Flowood MDOC programs, and Community Corrections. A woman can move from county custody to MCIW and later to supervision without leaving the county. The map alone cannot show whether she is jailed, imprisoned, in a program, or living in the community under conditions.
Read records in order. The sheriff’s penitentiary receipt confirms delivery into MDOC. State location history confirms MCIW and later placement. A Board grant or ERS record explains conditional release. Community Corrections identifies supervision. A discharge certificate answers whether MDOC jurisdiction ended.
Identify MCIW Records Precisely
MCIW’s separate designation matters even on shared grounds. A vague request for the Pearl prison may fail to identify the institution or program that held the person. State the full MCIW name, MDOC number, county of conviction or sentence, and a bounded date range.
The MDOC photograph is an identity aid, not proof of current custody or a Rankin County jail booking. A Tentative Release Date is a planning field. Keep the full search result with the agency response so location and date retain context. The custody history and formal release or discharge record should control.
MCIW Release Evidence Pairs
A reliable MCIW conclusion uses records that answer both movement and legal status. An MDOC location history paired with another prison destination shows transfer. A community-corrections location paired with a parole or ERS assignment shows release from institutional confinement with state control still in force. A discharge certificate paired with the final status supplies stronger evidence that the state sentence ended. Preserve the MDOC number, query date, full location text, and the date of each agency response. Those details make a later correction or follow-up request far more precise than a saved name alone.
Note: A photo that remains online after movement does not establish current confinement, release, or final discharge from MCIW.
Confirm MCIW Campus Context
The official MDOC CMCF profile supports the state-corrections context for the Pearl campus where the research separately identifies MCIW. It should not be used to erase MCIW’s distinct institution name in a request.
Pair the campus source with the named woman’s MDOC detail and custody history. Those person-specific records establish MCIW placement, later transfer, community supervision, or discharge, while the facility profile provides operator and location context.
